cannot boot to get the uname
>Description:
Upon attempting the installation of FreeBSD 5.3 the system hangs durring the boot up. Right after the boot loader screen the system freezes and becomes completely non-responsize. I have tried to boot the system using all the options but the same thing happens. This happens right after I select anything besides reboot. It appears to hang upon trying to load the kernel. I have had FreeBSD 4.9 and 4.10 installed and working correctly the problem just happens on the 5.x series. I have tried to do a source upgrade but still the system freezes.

Attempt installing the 5.x series on a similar laptop/

Can you provide more detail such as using a serial console to capture the
dmesg output from a 'boot -v' showing where it freezes? Also, can you try
setting 'hw.pci.enable_io_modes=0' from the loader to see if that works
 around the problem?

A fix for several Toshiba laptops has been committed to RELENG_5 and HEAD now.
Can you please test with a recent snapshot to see if the machine now boots
 ok?
