>Description:

	1 3C5x9 board(s) on ISA found at 0x300
ep0: 3c5x9 at 0x300 in test mode. Erase pencil mark!
ep0: eeprom failed to come ready.

	What does it mean? Help!

The semantic content I get out of "Erase pencil mark" is:
USE THE SOURCE, LUKE. I will, but it would be nice if the
probe failed with message that gave even the smallest
	clue what was wrong.

(Anyone have any clues they want to pass along?)

>How-To-Repeat:

Aquire and assemble the following hardware:

		Motherboard Intel Premier/PCI II
		CPU Intel Pentium 90
		32MB RAM
		PCI SCSI ?? NCR53c810
DISK SEGATE ST32550N (2GB low power barracuda)
		ETHERNET 3COM Etherlink III 3c509B-TP
		VIDEO ATI Ultra Pro

Try to install NetBSD 1.0 or FreeBSD 2.0.

The probe message above comes from FreeBSD 2.0, but NetBSD 1.0,
	produced almost identical messages.
