SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched!
Mounting root from ufs:/dev/ad0s1a
WARNING: /mnt was not properly dismounted
>Description:
On an SMP machine, (see hardware description below) "shutdown -r or -h now" failed with this last line :

boo() called on cpu#1
Waiting (max 60 seconds) for system process 'vnlru' to stop...stopped.

And that's all. The machine is waiting herre. Need a hardware reset for rebooting.

The MotherBoard is a MSI 6321MS v 3.7 112201 (Model 694X) with two PIII 733 Mhz

This problem exist on this machine since 5.0. I had test with 5.1, 5.2, 5.2.1. I recently test on this machine Linux too to convince me it was not a hardware problem on the machine. No problem with this machine with a 2.4 or a 2.6 kernel.

>How-To-Repeat:
just run as root "shutdown -r now". I can say that it allways failed when boot() is called on CPU1. When by chance boot() is called from CPU0, the machine stop normally and restart if "-r" option was called. ACPI SMP bug on VIA94 ?

More investigation on this problem show me :

 - if after a fresh boot I disable acpi by running the command :
acpiconf -d, I can shutdown my machine without (?) problem .

 hope this help.

On that machine (I've previously send the configuration) after :

 1 - Upgrading to FreeBSD 5.2.1 - p9
2 - upgrading my BIOS from eSupport

The problem is solved. So you can closed the report.

I think the problem was due (not to FreeBSD) but to my BIOS which was
 not full ACPI compatible.
So I recommend for others users having the same problem, to first check
at eSupport if a more recent BIOS isn't available and if it exist, to
upgrade. It seems that SMP motherboard's (even compatibles with SMP 1.4
specs) have problem with ACPI due to bios.

 Hope this help.

A special THX for the FreeBSD kernel team : good job !
