[...register dump details omitted...]
BTX halted

The machine needs to powered off at this point. I have also tried booting from the
miniloader ISO, as well as 4.8-RELEASE, all with the same results. I trawled the
archives and learnt that people had similar problems with Compaq hardware, and the
solution to the problem involved creating an MS-DOS partition on the disk beforehand.

I did this, but it did not result in any change.

I also tried booting from an OpenBSD 3.3 installation CD-ROM. The boot loader started
correctly, but at the Install/Upgrade prompt, pressing I resulted in the message "No
disks found".

The machines were delivered with a piece of paper reporting that HP have changed the
disks used in this equipment, that they are now using U320 SCSI drives.

The FreeBSD i386 system running at testdrive.hp.com is only a DL360 G2 running 4.8,
hence no comparison available there.

 Fixed.

 It was a firmware problem.

Here's what to do. Boot the PC, and press F9 at the appropriate moment
to run the BIOS configuration program. Under the section "Advanced
Options", change "Virtual install disk" from enabled to disabled.

Reboot, and the kernel boots correctly from cD-ROM. (As it turns out I
booted off a 4.8 iso, because that is what I had handy. I assume that
it would work correctly for 5.1 too).
