I cannot get the thing to install...the system boots fine off of the floppy, then goes directly to the kernel config, then freezes at the installation menu

turn off the computer, and try to install again...same thing happens...over and over again, on more than just one machine, using more than just one configuration of that system, ie: Cyrix processor didn't work, so tried an Intel...etc.

dunno...that's why I'm writting this, have read all the FAQ's/on-line documents I could find...

Would you describe CPU, motherboard, video card, keyboard, mouse, SCSI
controller (if any), network card and other peripheral devices your
 machies have?

What EXACTLY happened when the machines froze? Was the screen trashed
in any way? Did the keyboard seem to work? Any beep sound? Which
device did you enabled/disable in the kernel configuratiaon menu?
Were there any error/warning messages during boot time?

State-Changed-Why:
Ack! What am I doing... I didn't mean to close this one (time to get
some sleep :).

So long as I'm in the audit-trail, I'll note that i386/4951 (closed)
is related. The specific problem is apparently keyboard-related.
i386/4951 contains much more information, and the person who closed it
should probably have made an exception to the "close the newer PR when
closing dups" ruls.
