The description is confusing enough to not understand the actual 
problem at all.  It looks a lot like using the wrong boot device, but 
i would rather recommend clarification in a medium like 
freebsd-questions@freebsd.org, or comp.unix.bsd.freebsd.misc first, 
and only send a PR once it is sure that there's really a bug in 
FreeBSD.
