Have not gotten that far.
>Description:
Installing onto a COMPAQ DESKPRO p3 using a CDROM.

1st note: At startup on the visual kernal config screen it lists about 9 network cards (all conflicting) I delete the wrong ones, and it all goes fine .. (of course)

2nd note: When I get to the first screen (/stand/sysinstall Main Menu) The debug screen reads:

DEBUG: ioctl(3, TIOCCONS, NULL) = 0 (successful)
DEBUG: Can't open PC-card controller /dev/card0
DEBUG: Add mapping for /dev/cuaa0 to sl0
DEBUG: Add mapping for /dev/cuaa1 to sl0

The "DEBUG: Can't open PC-card controller /dev/card0" Is the line I'm curious about.

When I do a full install (all packs checked) at about 7% of the install, (i'm looking at the last line now: modules/if_ppp.ko BUT it has landed on other files), the computer freezes up.

It got past 7% if I switched it to an express install. (?!) but would again freeze at 9%.

>How-To-Repeat:

I have messed with options/kernal config - same result is a hang.

 The resulting error:

 DEBUG: Can't open PC-card controller /dev/card0

Is due to the reason that removed that particular device from the Visual
 Kernel
 Config menu.

I'm trusting Hiten on this one as he's researched the issue. We don't
support devices that are removed at boottime! :)

Incorrect close. The /dev/card0 error message is not
pertinent as the computer in question does not have
PC-Card slots.
