>Description:
When installing FreeBSD 8.0-Release with DVD made of ISO file downloaded from "ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/8.0/",
installation cannot complete due to no recognition of DVD-drive (when I select DVD/CD as install-media, the answer of "no DVD/CD drive was found" is given, though installation till that stage was done with DVD media.
I have tried installation with this media on several machines. All machines except this machine do not have any problem. Difference of this machine from others is its DVD-drive is connected by internal USB port while others are connected by SATA or IDE.
>How-To-Repeat:
When I repeat installation procedure on this machine, I can always face this problem.

Could you gather some information to help debug this problem please?

Boot using the 8.1 LiveFS CD, enter FixIt mode and set up networking
using "dhclient <interface_name>" or manually. Once you have an IP
address configured please collect the following information:

 dmesg
 ls /dev

Save these to a file under /tmp and use the 'ftp' program to upload them
to ftp://ftp.bluestop.org/incoming (you won't be able to see the files
once uploaded, but the following commands will work for example:

 cd /incoming
 put dmesg.txt
 put lsout.txt

 I have sent "dmesg.txt" and "lsout.txt" to ftp://ftp.bluestop.org/
 incoming" yesterday.

But procedures taken are a little bit different from your instruction.
Since I could not enter "FIXIT" mode
                                 with LiveFS CD,
 * I start FreeBSD 8.1 with KDE installed on this PC
 * Start Terminal console and be Super User
 * use "sysinstall" command and go into "FITIT" mode.

By the way, installation of FreeBSD8.0 did not succeed, but
installation of FreeBSD8.1 succeeded. So, I thought this problem had
 been already fixed.

 Best Regards,

State-Changed-Why:
Submitter reports that the 8.1 installation worked fine, so this is most
likely fixed.
