Enabling IDE DMA on Opti Viper-M mobile chipset crashes ENTIRE filesystem.
I tested it on wd driver on 3.1-RELEASE, but I heard that same accident happens on ata driver on 4.0-CURRENT.
Read-only mount works OK, but writing to R/W mounted filesystem crashes the entire filesystem immediately.

Always.

I have no idea.
Ad-hoc solution can be disabling IDE DMA option on this chipset.

You dont state which WD drive this is, WD has produced alot of drives
that claim DMA, but that doesn't work. I run an Opti Viper with two
Quantum drives, and tah works like a charm.
