 Eugene,

Can I see your CVSROOT for the cvs invocation that generated this
 output?

I ask because if you are using the SSH/cvs running at
anoncvs.freebsd.org, it runs on Linux. That means it uses vanilla CVS,
without FreeBSD's readonly patches. It will never work properly in
readonly mode with tags. You can try the pserver at
anoncvs.jp.freebsd.org. It is running on FreeBSD.

 HTH,

 Brandon D. Valentine
