>Originator: Slaven Rezic
>Release: FreeBSD 2.2-960801-SNAP i386
>Organization:
Private FreeBSD site, Berlin, Germany
>Environment:

Tried `patch' supplied with 2.2-960801-SNAP and current
`patch' program from the FreeBSD-CVS directory.

>Description:

`patch' ocassionally creates files in wrong directories.

>How-To-Repeat:

The problem often appeared applying patches to perl5, e.g.
	patching from perl5.003_26.tar.gz with perl5.003_27.pat.gz.
(For example, `XSsymSet.pm' is created in the directory `ext'
	instead of `vms/ext').

>Fix:

The problem does not appear with the official patch as found
on gnu archives (I tried the one from
	ftp://ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de/pub/gnu/patch).

	Slaven

State-Changed-Why:
Dup of gnu/1787, which was fixed sometime during the great patch(1) fiasco.

Hey, folks. We really need a better way of matching PRs to actual system
source code.
