Responsible-Changed-Why:
I ought to look at this.

State-Changed-From-To: open->feedback
State-Changed-By: bmah
State-Changed-When: Mon Nov 11 11:19:44 PST 2002
State-Changed-Why:
The text in question really applies to binary upgrades. sysinstall
attempts to do some updating of configuration files, similar to what
mergemaster(8) does, but in a more primitive fashion. So I don't
think that mergemaster(8) is really applicable to this situation.

mergemaster(8) is definitely recommended for source upgrades, and,
as far as I can tell, is documented as such.

Can I close this PR?

 It's a pity that, I am. :) Makeing world all the time would be a
 nightmare that it takes too much time on my outdated machine. Nowaday
 hard disks is so cheap that I would install the source distribution to
 support mergemaster even I don't intend to upgrade from sources.
 Anyway, thank you for your response. You may close the PR if you wish.
