I was just reading through the recently committed French translation of the
Dtrace Handbook chapter and noticed a few punctuation inconsistencies that
I hadn't picked up on when I proofread my translation. Sometimes, there is
no space before a colon, but at other times there is. For other French
translations, convention seems to be no space before a colon. The attached
patch fixes these inconsistencies for this document.

I may be incorrect here, but IIRC aren't "les deux-points" space
padded in French? As in, you've corrected the correct versions?

I thought so too, but it seems from translations of other chapters and
some edits to this chapter after I sent it to be committed, that
convention is not to put spaces before them. I just removed the three
spaces that had not been removed previously, but pretty obviously should
 have been. :-)

The spaces (non-breaking space for a colon) should be added during the
conversion from SGML to the final format (if the stylesheet is correct,
etc.) and should not be present in the source code. In french
there are many different spaces, it'd be very painful/difficult to add
them in the source code, it's the stylesheet job. The same principle is
used when you type a LaTeX document: you don't have to worry about
spaces if you added \usepackage[frenchb]{babel} for example.

I missed these spaces before the check-in.

Regarding the rendering of the French, last time I really looked at it
there was issues but it was about 10 years ago... and no time to go
 further.

I just removed the spaces, so the rendering is fixed. It's not the best
solution but for the moment it works :)
Thanks for the PR.

   Log:
Remove some "breaking space" before colons that lead to a weird
rendering. This should, maybe, be handled by the stylesheet but I have
   to time to investigate.
