>Description:
The icmptypes mentioned in FreeBSD pf.conf manpage are not mentioned in the FreeBSD 6.1 icmp(4) manpage.
>How-To-Repeat:
man 4 icmp and look for icmp types to use in your pf.conf rules.
>Fix:
Append the OpenBSD 3.7 icmptype section for icmptype names to use in your pf rules or pf.conf file. Consult the OpenBSD 3.7 manpage for icmptypes to use until committed to the manpages.

Hello,

After looking into the ICMP man page you described, I am not
very sure whether your information should be there at all.

It specifically mentions the kernel interface and there
is no need to have your ICMP information there.

That the manual page of pf.conf refers to this section
might be a left over from OpenBSD.

What do others on the list think about this and what does
the submitter think about this?

Mark the PR into feedback mode for this.

icmp6(4) does mention possible types as well. IMHO we should unify this
one way or another i.e. either add types to icmp(4) as well or have a
dedicated icmp-types(5 or wherever) to take care of it.

Hello,

This is a duplicate of PR doc/85243, so I am closing this one, largely
because danger@ (Daniel Gerzo) has a patch in 85243 which might be committed
by him (That would resolve both PR's).
