>Description:

	Most applications written with ncurses, slang, or other, cannot
handle extended ASCII characters the proper way. It concerns especially
semigraphical characters, and for this reason drawing tables or boxes by those
applications is unpleasant and introduces chaos to console.
	This is output from Midnight Commander left window in internationalized
console:
  Lewy     Plik     Polecenie     Opcje     Prawy
l<q~qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqv>kl<
x           Nazwa           xRozmiarx   CzasM    xx
x/..                        x    512x13 Gru 22:09xx
x/.cedit                    x    512x21 Kwi  2002xx

	As you see instead of semigraphic tables there are x-es and other
strange signs.

>How-To-Repeat:

	Try to make login class as shown above (/etc/login.conf). Add a user to
this class (pw usermod username -L pl), change virtual terms to cons25l2, in
/etc/ttys. Log in as this user, and try to run midc.

	Don't know..

 Hello,

 What you need in addition to the above, is Polish fonts. (Fonts that
 contain all characters required by the Polish alphabet). Hungarian also
 uses Latin-2, but we have the proper fonts so the problem that you
 describe here does not happen (nearly so often:-) You can try the iso02*
 fonts from /usr/share/syscons/fonts directory, that is what works for
 me. I hope it also does for you. You can set the fonts used in
 /etc/rc.conf or you can also compile it into the kernel.

 	Thank you for interest. But it doesn't resolve problem. I
 haven't mentioned in Environment section, that I included proper changes
 in /etc/rc.conf:

 keymap="pl_PL.ISO8859-2"
 keyrate="fast"
 cursor="blink"
 font8x16="iso02-8x16"		# <--
 font8x14="iso02-8x14"		# <--
 font8x8="iso02-8x8" 		# <--
 blanktime="120"
 saver="green"
 moused_enable="yes"
 allscreens_flags="-g 100x37 VESA_800x600"

 	Problem with ISO-8859-2 and extended ASCII fonts may be caused
 by VESA mode.

 Yes, but this was not appearent from the PR so it was a good idea to
 check:-)

 This looks ok.

 Maybe. I have no idea since I normally only use the default resolution
 on the console. If you can figure out which font is used in that mode
 (don't ask:-) then I recommend ports/sysutils/fontedit for dumping the
 font file to human-readable format and editing. Maybe it can help you.

Hi Ed,

could you take a look at this PR? It seems TTY releated and might have been
fixed by the new TTY layer. Please don't hesitate to assign it back into the
pool, if I'm wrong.

 Michal,

 Is this still a problem on HEAD? We switched to Xterm and now just fall
 back to ASCII box drawing. Not as pretty, but a lot more reliable. I
 won't make any attempt to resolve this on 8 and earlier, so if it works
 on HEAD, I can just close this PR.
