FreeBSD nelson.powelltech.com 2.2.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 2.2.1-RELEASE #6
Fri May 30 20:10:46 MDT 1997
root@nelson.powelltech.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/CARD i386
>Description:
I am using a laptop computer manufactured by a company in
Colorado Springs. FreeBSD fails to locate the controller chip and
returns a value of 0xff for the statement 'c = getb (sp, PCIC_ID_REV)'
in the file pcic.c in the pccard directory.

I believe the controller chip is a Cirrus Logic chip but I don't know
what version. The statement failure described above causes FreeBSD to
bypass scanning for PCMCIA cards. The PCMCIA card I am using is an
IBM/National Ethernet II Credit Card Adapter.
>How-To-Repeat:
The problem is encountered when the system is configured to support
PCMCIA support for the IBM Etherlink II Credit Card Adapter.
>Fix:
None known.
