 As suggested I changed the order of the rc.conf arguments for the bridge
 configuration. Something like the following does create the bridge
 correctly:
 
 ifconfig_bridge0="inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.0.0.0 addm em0 addm em1"
 
 The documentation or the init script should probably be updated.  I am
 unable to test this with DHCP since the dhcp server listens on the bridge
 interface.
