>Description:
ypbind can't bind to the server running Solaris-2.6
From the other hand, when running ypbind -s -ypsetme
and then ypset servername
one can get the following message after timeout for about 15 sec:
/usr/sbin/ypset: sorry, cannot ypset for domain domainname on host
But then, yp works.
>How-To-Repeat:
ypbind -s -S domainname,servername
ypwhich
ypwhich: can't yp_bind: reason: Domain not bound

This happens with a Digital Unix 4.0 NIS server too.
ypbind can't bind to it, and ypset says
"sorry, cannot ypset for domain <domainname> on host"

Happens on FreeBSD 3.0-RELEASE and 3.0-STABLE

 Hi,

Are you still facing the 'ypbind' problem? Did you try the -m option?

Are you by any chance trying to connect to a YP server via an interface
 that doesn't support broadcast?

In the case of the second respondent to this PR, the problem turned out to
be a netmask misconfiguration problem which was subsequently rectified.

 Koshy

 Hello,
Yes, the netmask was the problem.
 Thanks.
