>Description:
When running "netstat -nr" I get the error message

netstat: kvm not available
Routing tables
rt_tables: symbol not in namelist

The machine was installed as 5.3 via network, cvsup'ed to 5.4 PRERELEASE, and a new build/install of world and kernel was run.
(I did not check this command with the initial kernel.)

This problem also occurs after my last update for (another) FreeBSD 5.3 (Stable) machine.

Are you sure that kernel and userland are in sync? Problems like that
is almost always due to kernel and userland being out of sync.

Add "device mem" to your kernel config and recompile the kernel.
Examine carefully the diffs to the GENERIC config.
