I installed (from a downloaded copy) FreeBSD sucessfully, but Im not able to install the source files, src, and the XFree86 due to the missing scontrib.inf. Ive looked on your FTP site for the inf file but no luck. I downloaded all the files for a complete installation except the "packages" dir. Im new to BSD and am learning this OS. Thanks
>How-To-Repeat:
Run setup.exe
select all (the src and xfree86 selection cause the error scontrib.inf not found)

Ok I found the option to deselect which is under src the "contrib"
 contributed software.

However, setup fails to find compat1x.tgz, compat20.tgz, compat21.tgz

From your previous message, I see you are installing FreeBSD 2.1.

The reason setup.exe fails to find these files is most likely
because the copy you have is intended for FreeBSD 2.2. The
distribution format of these particular files has changed, and only
the latest version of setup.exe is generally available for download.

Incidentally, unless you have a particular reason for choosing
2.1.7.1, you may be better of installing 2.2.6, which is the latest
release. For those new to FreeBSD, there is a lot of help available
on the freebsd-newbies and freebsd-questions mailing lists, but it
usually helps to have the same version everyone else is talking about.
