 I've fixed this issue recently in 5.2-CURRENT.  Sorry, but I don't
 have nearby plans for MFC.
 
 Meanwhile, you can also install the "crypto" distribution and get
 done with the issue.

 FWIW, this problem is still present in FreeBSD-5.2.1-RELEASE: if you install
 just the base system, pkg_add can't run because it needs libssl and
 libcrypto.

The issue was fixed in 5.2-CURRENT in January 2004 and later 
releases, so I don't think there are any affected systems out 
there anymore and I close this PR.  Let us know if you are 
still experiencing any problems.
