Installation from floppy cannot proceed due to system hang on or after
the npx driver.  Installs all other drivers, and have tried disabling
all devices not present from boot kernel.

 That's either on the attempt to mount the root filesystem, or at
 system startup.
 
 Can you already switch to VTY2 (Alt-F2), and see sysinstall messages
 there?
 
 There used to be a BIOS stack corruption problem in FreeBSD 2.1.5, can
 you try a more recent boot floppy (2.2-BETA) to see if the problem has
 been fixed there?
