>Description:
When using the shell "shutdown now" command my dv7-1130US laptop halts all process and then displays:

Shutdown writing entropy file.
Terminated.

Enter Full path name of shell or Return for /bin/sh.

But the system does not powerdown. I would expect the software to be "smart" enough to turn off the power switch as other operating systems do. At a minimum the system should state after "Terminated", "It is now safe to turn off the computer."
>How-To-Repeat:

>Fix:
The software should be smart enough to throw the power to the off position. If I wanted a reboot, I will type in reboot not shutdown.

 Hi Paul,

     From man shutdown:

-p The system is halted and the power is turned off (hardware sup-
port required) at the specified time.

 ...

When run without options, the shutdown utility will place the system into
single user mode at the time specified.

Please subscribe to questions@freebsd.org if you have other
 questions related to FreeBSD usage.
 Cheers,
 -Garrett
