 Please check whether the file is readable by everyone.
 
 	ls -l /etc/manpath.config
 -rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  791 Oct 21  1997 /etc/manpath.config
 
 If this is not the case, do a 
 
 	chmod 0644 /etc/manpath.config
 
 as user root. You can become user root by using the following command:
 
 	su
 
 and then type in the password at the 'password:' prompt.
