Tried installing FreeBSD-10.0-ALPHA4-amd64-disc1.iso on Hyper-V 2008 R2, Hyper-V 2012 and Hyper-V 2012 R2 (preview) with identical results. The kernel appears not to recognize the CD drive, the message about it does not appear. The last message is as follows:
..
hn0: Ethernet address: ....
storsvc1 on vmbus0
Trying to mount root from cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL [ro]...
mountroot: waiting for device /dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL ...
Mounting from cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL failed with error 19.

Loader variables:
  vfs.root.mountfrom:=cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FREEBSD_INSTALL
  vfs.root.mountfrom.options=ro
..

lsdev on the OK prompt shows cd0: Device 0x0

Various suggestions about setting ACPI variables did not work.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to install on Hyper-V the image in question.
>Fix:
N/a. FreeBSD 10 Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 install without any problems. I was able to install Alpha 1, update to the latest source and build kernel with hyperv, which resulted in very stable system.

Under VirtualBOX Alpha 4 installs without problems.

 The last message is as follows:

 I believe the Hyper-V guys are working on a fix for this.
