>Release: PC-BSD 8.2 64-bit and PC-BSD 9.0 Beta2
>Organization:
Westfield State University
>Environment:
Cannot install on Hewlet Packard HDX-18t Notebook Computer and as such cannot use "uname -a." Windows Vista Ult 64 and 7 Pro 64 work. Ubuntu 10.04-11.10 64, Slackware 64 (Salix LXDE), Gentoo instal and work without issue.
My hardware is as follows: Quanta 3610 Motherboard; Bios - HP branded; 8GB DDR2 dual channel @ 800MHz (6/6/6/18) 1.8V; Intel Penryn Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz; PCI-Express graphics interface; NVidia Geforce 9600M GT with HDMI out; Synaptics PS/2 Port Touchpad; Generic Plug and Play monitor (18.6" Seiko - 1920x1080p @60Hz); Realtek RTL8168C(P) NIC (PCI-E); Intel WIFI Link 5100 A-G-N (2.4 and 5.0 Ghz); Sony (Optiarc) BlueRay combo drive; Firewire Port; JMicron card reader; HP Webcam; Fingerprint scanner (maker unknown); Other assorted basics (if it makes a difference feel free to ask me - I'm happy to provide any information you need).
>Description:
1080 Progressive scan video of instal attempt from start to freeze-up of BSD can be seen on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jn2WAc8b_GE .
Installation freezes at:
"run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 60 seconds for xpt_config
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 120 seconds for xpt_config
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 180 seconds for xpt_config
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 240 seconds for xpt_config
run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 300 seconds for xpt_config"

Left to run for 3 hours with no change. Remained at line "run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 300 seconds for xpt_config"

>How-To-Repeat:
Attempt to install again to repeat problem. Same outcome with every install attampt of PC-BSD 8.2 64-bit and PC-BSD 9.0 Beta2 64-bit.
>Fix:
Unknown. I am told the problem may be the Firewire port not being accepted by BSD or the fingerprint scanner not being accepted by BSD but I could not say as no information can be pulled as the result of the freeze up at "run_interrupt_driven_hooks: still waiting after 300 seconds for xpt_config". No command line available at that point on.
