Package xdmsc: Error in `/etc/inittab`

SuSE Linux: Version 5.1

Symptom:

After activating the entry for xdmsc in /etc/inittab it is not possible anymore to boot correctly or to change the runlevel.

Cause:

A wrong line crept into /etc/inittab :

#7:2:+/sbin/init.d/rx tty7

7:2:+/sbin/init.d/rx tty7

The third column with the command, that is responsible for the correct call of the process /sbin/init.d/rx is missing.

Solution:

The correct form of the line is

#7:2:respawn:+/sbin/init.d/rx tty7

7:2:respawn:+/sbin/init.d/rx tty7

Please change /etc/inittab accordingly
