Wabi: Installation on S.u.S.E. Linux

Installation:

Do not install the RPMs but the .tgz file instead:

 
    mkdir /opt
    mkdir /opt/wabi
    cd /opt/wabi    
    tar xzf /cdrom/Unsupported/wabi-2.2B-8.tgz 
    mkdir /etc/flexlm
    mkdir /etc/flexlm/licenses
    cp /cdrom/License_Files/wabi.license /etc/flexlm/licenses

From S.u.S.E. Linux 5.0 you may install the RPM package.

rpm -ihv /cdrom/RPMS/Wabi-2.2B-8.i386.rpm
mkdir /etc/flexlm
mkdir /etc/flexlm/licenses
cp /cdrom/License_Files/wabi.license /etc/flexlm/licenses

include

/opt/wabi/bin in your PATH

start wabi. A complete Windows installation is necessary for each user who starts wabi!

Hints:

Your root partition may be found under "R:". Rather convenient for drives that are mounted from other machines.
The following programs (among others) have been successfull tested:
- Quicken 4.0
- Word 6.0
- Quattro Pro 6.0
- Pagemaker 5.0
XFree86 needs to be run with -kb, that means without the XKB extension otherwise the cursor keys (and many more) refuse to work. Start the X server with startx -- -kb or disable XkbDisable in /etc/XF86Config You may start another extra X server and swich.
The window mamager is ignored by wabi (well, its Windows..:) ). Thus the wabi window appears on every virtual screen. The icons are placed randomly and the windows may not be controlled by the window manager hotkeys. The hotkeys fail to work as long as the wabi window has the focus.
