StarOffice does not start

Symptom:

StarOffice refuses to start, appearing the message:

can't load library 'libofa312.so

Cause:

This directory is unknown to the dynamic linker.

Solution:

Set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the directory with the StarOffice libraries. Enter at shell level the following command: 
 
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/StarOffice3.1/linux-x86/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
Afterwards StarOffice can be started.
