Configuring serial interfaces

"How can really be adjusted a Linux device for a serial interface (e.g. /dev/ttyS1) to a not standard I/O address (e.g. 2E8hex)?"

For this purpose serves the programme setserial (see also man setserial). In the case mentioned, setserial ttyS1 port 0x2E8 irq 3 must be called.
