, one of the following cases arises:

/dev/hda1 is already mounted. You can check this, by logging yourself in on another console and then checking with the command df, which drivers are assigned to which directories.
A directory is already busy, when one is in it. Check on each shell with pwd in which directories you are located.
A process uses e.g. a library on this partition.

If you are still unable to get through, I recommend you e.g. /dosc as mountpoint, since /mnt might be used by other processes.
