Win95: installation experience

• Boot W95

• Copy CD1/dosutils/fips/* to CD1/dosutils/fips/* to C:\fips

• Defragment the harddisk

• Start the DOS modus (press F8 during boot-up, "only entry prompt")

• Start SETUP.EXE and create a boot disk with an appropriate kernel.

• Start the program fips. Please read the corresponding README's before !

• You can now decrease the size of the existing partition; A second, unformatted partition is created automatically. The CDROM will probably have another drive letter afterwards.

• Boot from the Boot-disk, The CDROM will be accessed automatically.

• The new partition can now be used as a Linux partition. The rest of the installation can be performed as usual.

  Attention : It might happen, that data gets lost. I've never heard of that, but ...

  Important :

  Fips can only handle FAT and VFAT partitions. It is not able to handle FAT32 and NTFS partitions ! If you nevertheless use fips, a total loss of data will be the consequence !
