SuSE Linux: Versions since 5.0
XFree86: Versions since 3.3
The Matrox Mystique is supported since XFree863.3.
You will need the SVGA server (package xsvga, series x, in YaST).
XFree86-3.3 is included since version 5.0 of S.u.S.E. Linux and may be downloaded from our FTP site at ftp.suse.com in the dircetory ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/XFree86-3.3-SuSE.
XFree86-3.3 supports every colour depth and resolutions of the Matrox
Mystique. There are some applications that are error prone with the
Matrox card at 24bpp (xanim und NetScape).
This will be solved in the near future.
Use of the Matrox Mystique is even possible with versions prior to XFree863.3. Well, actuallly only with a maximum resolution of 800x600 and 4 bit colour depth (16 colours). For how to proceed please have a look at "Unsupported graphics devices" maddin_vga16.html.
There is a new revision 3 chipset by Matrox Mystique which is not yet supported by XFree86-3.3 but by XFree86-3.3.1. This server is available as RPM package and may be downloaded via our FTP site ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/xf86_331/rpm/xsvga.rpm or as a .tgz file ftp://ftp.suse.com/suse_update/xf86_331/tgz/xsvga.tgz
