The prompt in the text console is disappeared after X

Applicable to
S.u.S.E. version: from 4.2 on
Kernel version: irrelevant

Symptom:

When one finishes a X window, that was started with startx, one finds in the text console all kinds of messages, but not anymore the usual shell's entry request (prompt).

When one enters a command at this "disappeared" prompt, it is executed. When one pushes e.g. Ctrl-C, the prompt appears again.

Cause:

The outputs, among other X server's messages and error messages are not only displayed into the file ~/.X.err, but as well on the screen.

Since startx is started in the background, the prompt's display is overwritten by messages during the X run. The shell is still waiting for entries.

Solution:

This is not a real problem, maybe only a cosmetic elegance that is slowed down by sending startx to the background.

As far as it concerns the insecurity matter where the prompt hides, Ctrl-C or Return are appropriate reactions, when one wants to have again the prompt.
