fvwm2 and fvwm95 are slow

Symptom:

fvwm2 and fvwm95 need too much time to start.

Cause:

If the packets 3dpixms and 3dpixm are installed, both fvwm2 and fvwm95, as the case may be, load hundreds of iconpixmaps during both the start and the restart. This can lead into a very long starting time in either old computers or computers with a small main memory.

Solution:

You can sort remedy out by three different ways:

• Uninstall the packet 3dpixms or, if you do not want to have the big icons either, 3dpixm.

• You can set, from S.u.S.E. Linux 4.4 on, the variable SUSEWM_XPM="no" in the file /etc/rc.config, which has the same effect. Please do not forget to call SuSEconfig afterwards.

• Remove the icons from the configuration file of the fvwm(2/95).

To execute the third way, one calls from the menu mksusewmrc (can also produce an own configuration file) and replaces in all these menu entries, the icon statements containing:
