CRON reports errors in S.u.S.E. Linux 4.3, 1st edition

Conditions:

This article is only applicable to your system, if you

• have installed S.u.S.E. Linux 4.3, 1st edition, AND
• have installed the atrun packet.

Symptom:

You get as user root a mail from the cron daemon (crond) saying that the change into a specific directory is not possible (cannot change directory to ...).

Cause:

The permissions for this directory are not enough for the cron job to change the directory.

Solution:

Please proceed as follows:

• Log yourself in as user root.

• Load the file /etc/permissions into your favourite editor.

• Please look for the following line:

  /usr/bin/at                    at.at     4711
  

• Please replace this line by the following one:

  /usr/bin/at                    root.root 4711
  

• Please look furthermore for the following line:

  /var/lib/uucp/taylor_config/passwd     uucp.uucp 440
  

• Please add below this line the following ones:

  /var/spool/atjobs/.SEQ         at.at     644
  /var/spool/atjobs/.lockfile    at.at     600
  

• Save the file.
• As after every change of the file /etc/permissions, you must call SuSEconfig (in the shell) after this change.
