ld.so.conf is overwritten

Symptom:

For this reason you have adjusted /etc/ld.so.conf.

However, this file is overwritten at every SuSEconfig start (e.g. by YaST).

Cause:

if test -e $r/etc/ld.so.conf.in ; then
        (for i in `cat $r/etc/ld.so.conf.in` ; do
                test -d $r/$i && echo $i
        done) > $r/etc/ld.so.conf
fi

Solution:

• Extend the file to /etc/ld.so.conf.in instead of /etc/ld.so.conf and start SuSEconfig
• Delete /etc/ld.so.conf.in (not recommended!)
• Set the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH before you start the corresponding programme, example:

  export 
  LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib/netscape-lib:/usr/X11R6/lib:/lib:/usr/lib
