Terminal programs and group "uucp"

SuSE Linux: Versions since 5.3

Symptom:

minicom, seyon or cu cannot be executed anymore by "normal" users.

Cause:

For security reasons the suid bits are not set for these terminal programs.

Solution:

Enter the users that should be allowed to use the terminal programs into the group "uucp" using YaST : "System administration" -> "Group administration" (see manual, YaST chapter).
