SuSE Linux: Versions since 5.3
You want to install/uninstall a "TGZ" package. However
the tools that you've used so far ("installpkg", ...)
cannot be found anymore in the system.
The Slackware tools ("installpkg", "removepkg", ...)
have security holes ((tmp-exploits). Since "RPM"
is the package format of S.u.S.E. Linux since a longer period of time now, it
appeared to us that it was not worth the effort to maintain and include these
tools into the distrubtion any longer.
TGZ" package (see the article below), or
alien" in order to convert the "TGZ"-package
into a "RPM" package. You can then install it with rpm
(see pakete_manuell.html for further information).
