PCMCIA: activating a "scheme"

SuSE Linux: Version 5.3

Symptom:

You try to access the preconfigured "schemes" (network schemes) directly via LILO, like it is described in /usr/doc/packages/pcmcia/PCMCIA-HOWTO. However the switching doesn't work the way you want it.

Cause:

The environment variable "SCHEME" isn't evaluated by the "pcmcia" startscript.

Solution:

Enter the following line into /sbin/init.d/pcmcia :

if [ "$SCHEME" ] ; then umask 022 ; echo $SCHEME > $SC ; fi

          if [ -d $PC ] ; then
              /sbin/insmod $PC/pcmcia_core.o $PCMCIA_CORE_OPTS
              /sbin/insmod $PC/$PCMCIA.o $PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS
