After an update Gimp doesn't work anymore

Symptom:

After an update Gimp doesn't work anymore.

Cause:

Gimp is still under development. Thus configuration files are not always compatible between different versions.

Solution:

Usually only the ~/.gimprc-directory is affected. Please store any important customization of this directories content in a save place and remove the whole directory. Gimp will create a directory with correct content after the next restart.
