When using the Adobe Acrobat Plug-In for Netscape Communicator 4.5, at startup a message like
"can't find libc.so.5 , no such file or directory unable to start nppdf.so"appears.
shlibs5 (series a) is installed. Then
unset LD_PRELOADinto the file
/usr/X11R6/bin/acroread. The top of that file should look like
---cut--- #!/bin/sh # unset LD_PRELOAD ver=3.02 install_dir=/usr/X11R6/lib/Acrobat3/Reader ... ---cut---Now reconfigure the Navigator (under
"Edit --> Preferences --> Navigator --> Applications").
Hilight the entry "Portable Document Format", click on Edit and enter the following into the edit box :
/usr/X11R6/bin/acroread %sAccept the setting by pressing the "OK" button. Now try to load a
.pdf file into the Navigator.
The Acrobat Reader should now be started flawlessly as an external application.
Please note however, that there might still be an error message about nppdf.so. You can safely ignore it.
