SuSE Linux: Version 5.2
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
wu-ftpd is used as the standard ftp-server.
It is started automatically when the machine is accessed via ftp over the network.
However "wuftpd" isn't installed automatically during an update although
the corresponding command gets inserted into /etc/inetd.conf.
Please note that after the update root is informed about this fact via e-mail.
n). Please also read the information
contained in the subdirectory /usr/doc/packages/wuftpd .
/etc/inetd.conf :
ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd wu.ftpd -a # ftp stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.ftpd
Remove the comment sign at the beginning of the second line and
insert it at the beginning of the first line instead. This way
ftpd becomes the standard ftp-server again. Save
the file to disk and restart inetd afterwards :
kill -1 `cat /var/run/inetd.pid`
wu.ftpq even with older
versions (>= 5.0) of S.u.S.E. Linux
