Startup-Skript für Postgres

If you're using the postgres database all the time, you can start the postgres daemon automatically at boot time.

Please perform the following steps :

• Enter the following line into the file /etc/rc.config :

      START_POSTGRES=yes
  

• Create a file /sbin/init.d/postgres which should contain the following text :

      #! /bin/sh
      # Copyright (c) 1997 S.u.S.E. GmbH Fuerth, Germany. All rights reserved.
      #
      # Author: Thomas Fehr , 1997
      #
      # /sbin/init.d/postgres
      #
  
      . /etc/rc.config
  
      case "$1" in
  	start)
  	    if test "$START_POSTGRES" = yes -a -x /usr/bin/postmaster
  	    then
  		echo "Starting postgres daemon"
  		/bin/su -c '/usr/bin/postmaster -S' postgres
  	    fi
  	    ;;
  	stop)
  	    echo -n "Shutting down postgres daemon"
  	    /bin/su -c 'killproc /usr/bin/postmaster' postgres
  	    ;;
  	*)
  	    echo "Usage: $0 {start|stop}"
  	    exit 1
      esac
  
      exit 0
  

• If postgres should always be started in runlevel 2, create the following links :

      ln -s ../postgres /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/S25postgres
      ln -s ../postgres /sbin/init.d/rc2.d/K15postgres
