Printer: Epson and compatible devices (stylus and ink-jet)

Request:

You want to configure a stylus- or ink-jet-printer, e.g. a printer manufactured by Epson or a compatible device.

Procedure:

If there are problems using Ghostscript version 4.x, try upgrading to the current version 5.x (see new_gs.html) and use a suitable uniprint driver. This driver must be configured using the script /usr/lib/apsfilter/SETUP.

• If your printer understands the "new" printer-language "Esc/P2", then you should read drucker-2.html; You should find information about the language used by your printer in a visible place in the printer-manual.

• If your printer understands "only" "Esc/P" (this is e.g. true for the LQ850 or for older printers by NEC, Star, OKI etc.), then you should try to use either one of the drivers "epson" or "necp6" (Ghostscript 4.x) or you should use the uniprint driver with the parameter file "necp2x.upp" (Ghostscript 5.x).
