The remote printer fails to work with apsfilter

Applies to

SuSE Linux: Version 5.1

Symptom:

Variable REMOTE_PRINTER has been set in /etc/apsfilterrc or in /etc/apsfilterrc.<device> is set to true. Nevertheless the jobs never reach the remote printer server.

Cause:

/var/lib/apsfilter/apsfilter expects an comment behind the name of the printer queue in /etc/printcap.

Solution:

Enter a comment behind the entry 
remote:\

remote|My print server:\
