ISSUE:

How do I test and setup a modem for incoming calls on my linux box ?

• A modem designated for _incoming_ connections should be set up to the same speed as the serial port is. to do this,
  
• Attach the modem to the serial port, run "minicom", set the speed in "minicom" to whatever speed you set the port to be,
  
• Then type "AT" a few times until the modem responds "OK", then type "ATE0Q1" to set the modem into quiet mode,
  
• Lastly write the modem parameters into the modem's NVRAM using "ATW" a few times.

        AA - auto answer
        CD - carrier detect
        DC - data compression
        DI - dialing
        LP - LAPM error correction
        OK - modem is okay
        RE - receive error
        RI - ring
        TE - transmit error
        28 - 28800 bps

        - must use "chatscript.supra" in "/etc/diald.conf"

        - the current firmware version is 1.440-25-V34_DS
