2.1. How can I get my WinModem to work?
2.2. What can I do with my WinModem?
2.3. Is there no other way?

1. What is a WinModem?

A WinModem, as the name suggests, is a modem specifically designed for
Microsoft Windows. The WinModems come in all shapes and sizes - they're
distributed by many different manufacturers as either internal or external
modems. As of yet, there has been found no way for these modems to work
under Linux. If you are considering buying one, we would strongly advise
against this purchase if you intend to use it under Linux - it will not work.

2. I can't get my WinModem to work with Linux. What do I do?

Take the modem back to the shop and ask for a refund, or upgrade to a modem
that will work with Linux. No WinModem will work with Linux. There is no
Linux driver for this modem, and there isn't likely to be either.

2.1 How can I get my WinModem to work?

There is no known way, under Linux, to get a WinModem to work - as the name
suggests, it is designed for Microsoft Windows. The only way to get a
WinModem to work on your machine is to install the driver for it, which is
of course, Microsoft Windows. We would advise against this though, as the
driver is known to be quite buggy and doesn't carry much support.

2.2 What can I do with my WinModem?

    Upgrade it
    Sell it
    Burn it
    Smash it
    Melt it
    Stamp on it
    Run it over
    Freeze it
Use it as a holder (external models only)
    Take it to pieces

2.3 Is there no other way?

    No
