NAME

       issue - issue identification file

DESCRIPTION

       The  file /etc/issue is an text file which contains a mes-
       sage or system identification to  be  printed  before  the
       login  prompt.   It  may  contain  various @char and \char
       sequences, if supported by getty(1).
