*** UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS FOR TKNET VERSION 1.0 ***

                31st January, 1996

Instllation of TkNet version 1.1b will overwrite all your
current setup data. It is advisable to save your current
data files from /usr/local/lib/TkNet/tknet.* for reference.

How to upgrade:

(1) Unpack the tar file in the root directory.

This will extract the new version of TkNet into
/usr/local/bin, over the previous version (hence if you have
made any changes, save the old one so you can transfer the
changes to the upgrade if necessary).

(2) (Optional) You *may* copy your preferences file back
into /usr/local/lib/TkNet, however as data in this file
may be easily reproduced this is not recommended.

(2) As root, start up TkNet.

Note the new menu items under Options. Open the Scripts setup
window and enter the script information for your setup(s).
Help is available. Save the script information to the global
file and exit the script setup screen. You should now see
your new entries under the File menu and on the pop-up menu.
Open the Setup window, review the entries (note the link
configuration has changed, it now takes ppp or sl0 etc.)
and save. Repeat with the launcher. You should find that
TkNet has recognised most of your previous setup. Again,
help is available.

Recommended, but not essential: ask each user to review
his/her own settings. Deletion of the personal configuration
files may be a good idea, to ensure that new global settings
are picked up correctly.

And that should be it! If you have any concerns or corrections
to make to this document, let me know.
